Thriller is a broad genre of films, literature and television that includes numerous and often overlapping sub-genres, example; Twilight, Shaun of the dead and Batman.

Thrillers are characterised by fast pacing frequent, action and resourceful heroes who must thwart the plans of more powerful and better equipped villains. E.g; Avengers - gathering everyone as a team to fight Low-key.

Devices such as suspense, red herrings and cliffhangers are used extensively. A thriller is a villain driven plot, whereby he presents obstacles the hero must overcome.

The red herring in the movie Avengers would be - First i thought Thor was the villain but really it was his brother.
The Cliffhanger in Avengers would be - when captain america was almost about to fall off the plane.

The Genre is flexible and can engage the audience through a dramatic rendering of psychological, social political tensions. Hitchcock said thrillers allow the audience "to put their toe in the cold water of fear to see what its like".
